rpm error installing kernel source package

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi all,

I get an RPM error trying to install the kernel source:

$ rpm -ivh kernel-2.6.15-1.2054_FC5.src.rpm
error: cannot create %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES

A section of the FC5 release notes, "8.6. Preparing for Kernel
Development", says this should be done as normal user, not root, but
running it either way the rpm still generates this error message.
According to the text:

"This command writes the RPM contents into ${HOME}/rpmbuild/SOURCES
and ${HOME}/rpmbuild/SPECS, where ${HOME} is your home directory."

It looks like the path that source package is using is deprecated.
Anyone know what is going on here?

I am running FC5, kernel 2.6.15-1.2054.
