Unable to write to floppy after updating packages

Hi, list.

On my FC4 system I can not write to my 3-1/2 inch floppy drive,
/dev/fd0. I can write to the floppy from Windows and SUSE 9.2 but not
FC4. I checked fstab. The second floppy drive, /dev/fd1, has
disappeared.

# cat /etc/fstab
# This file is edited by fstab-sync - see 'man fstab-sync' for details
LABEL=/                 /                       ext3    defaults        1 1
LABEL=/boot             /boot                   ext3    defaults        1 2
/dev/devpts             /dev/pts                devpts  gid=5,mode=620  0 0
/dev/shm                /dev/shm                tmpfs   defaults        0 0
/dev/proc               /proc                   proc    defaults        0 0
/dev/sys                /sys                    sysfs   defaults        0 0
/dev/sda1               swap                    swap    defaults        0 0
/dev/hda12              swap                    swap    defaults        0 0
/dev/fd0                /media/floppy           auto
pamconsole,exec,noauto,utf8,managed 0 0
/dev/hdd                /media/cdrecorder       auto
pamconsole,exec,noauto,managed 0 0
/dev/hdc                /media/cdrom            auto
pamconsole,exec,noauto,managed 0 0

Ordinarily, I would not miss /dev/fd1 since it is a seldom used 5-1/4
inch drive. However, since the device has disappeared I cannot write
to /dev/fd0. Here's what happens when I attempt to mount a floppy:

# mount /dev/fd0 /media/floppy
mount: block device /dev/fd0 is write-protected, mounting read-only

I am running kernel-2.6.15-1.1833_FC4. The problem also occurs using
kernel-2.6.15-1.1830_FC4.

Here are the latest packages installed on the system:

Any chance that one of these package caused the problem?

Thanks,

Kam
