make sure you are using the latest version of webmin...I had some
problems with webmin and mysql for a few versions and pointed out the
problem to Jamie and he has fixed it in the latest version (1.260) for
sure.

>From within Webmin - make sure that you have a root account with a
password set specifically to localhost
