Can anybody suggest a good book to learn to write X windows programs? I've done a lot of C programming in the past but no C++ or any programming under Linux.

Good reference... X Toolkit Intrinsics Reference Manual Volume 5 for X11
David Flanagan - O'Reilly
ISBN 1-56592-007-4

But like a lot of "reference" books, the material is there, but how do you learn where to start?

Like learning an alphabet doesn't show how to put words together.
