In some of the boxes, I can install it just fine. Only in > this particular box I got the problem, it's a FC4 without updates. You really ought to install the updates if that box is anywhere near the Internet. But that sounds like you've got a problem either with the box or with the RPM. Check that you've got plenty of free space on all your filesystems. Run the command sha1sum RealPlayer-10.0.6.776-20050915.i586.rpm on both the troublesome box and on one where the RPM worked: if the output is different, you've got a corrupt RPM. (Obviously, you should use a copy that you successfully used to install: don't take a possibly dud copy to a working box and use that). If necessary, re-download the RPM. It's possible that this is a symptom of RAM going bad. You might want to use memtest86 (available on Fedora boot CDs) to check the memory on this computer. Warning: you should at least leave it running overnight. Hope this helps, James. -- E-mail address: james | "In these troubled times, it's always refreshing to @westexe.demon.co.uk | see a major company concentrating on vital issues. | It would be even more refreshing if Compaq tried it | for once." -- The Inquirer
