Can someone here point me to a pop3 mail program that can authenticate a user based on their email address, not their username? I can't seem to find a way to do this with UW imap/pop that I currently run.

The "problem" is server side. Dovecot can handle backends with authnames
like "foo@bar". Cyrus-IMAPd does so too.

Thanks, yeah I know the problem is server-side. I was asking for a pop3 server program that a client could use an email address to log to (as their username). Sorry if I was unclear. Thanks for the options.
