Using kernel-2.6.15-1.1831_fC4 and putting:
options ipw2200 hwcrypto=0 in the /etc/modprobe.conf. 
the wireless connection fails every time. Without this option the
connection works. Go figure.

I will try the kernel-2.6.15-1.1833_FC4 when I can get it.
