Both xine and gxine allow you to take screen shots, either with the
video paused or running. The former creates JPEGs, the latter PNGs.

While the interface of xine is slightly uglier, the screenshot
function works marginally better IMO because it automatically
generates the JPEG filename, whereas gxine prompts for the PNG
filename.
