Re: Problems with FC4 kernels 1658 and 1831 (Should be 1656)

I have three different machines that have been having problems with the last two FC4 kernels. The first is a 733 MHz Pentium III with 256 MB RAM and a 230 GB IDE disk. It acts an Apache web server and a subversion server. The machine gets into a mode where it prints the following on the console (the numbers may be a little different):

Normal per-cpu:
cpu 0 hot: low 62, high 186, batch 31, used 99
cpu 0 cold: low 0, high 62, batch 31, used 57

Notice the machine is out of swap space so there seems to be a process that is running amuck, but I can't tell what it is. I have to shut the machine off to make progress. This also occurred with 1831.

The second is a 733 MHz AMD Duron with 256 MB RAM. It experiences the same thing with 1658.

The third machine is a dual Tyan Dual Opteron machine. It experienced the problem with a 1831 when trying to compile a large code.

Has anyone experienced similar problems?

Can someone suggest what to try to debug the problem, or another place to get help.

The reference to 1658 should have been 1656.

To be specific 2.6.14-1.1656_FC4 and 2.6.15-1.1831_FC4. The x86_64 SMP version was loaded on the dual opteron machine. The i686 version was used on the other machines.

Sorry,
Pete
