usb drives not detected any more

Hi,

After some update my FC4 box doesn't detect any USB drive any more.
Normally they showed up in /media but now I can't find them there.

I guess it has something do do with HAL daemon not being started correctly, 
but I can't find out why that service can't start. Any ideas ?
