So am I. But the word "extract" really implies force is involved. The denotation may simply be "to remove from something", but the connotation is as important. The first definition in my dictionary is "ex.tract (ik.strakt') v.t. 1. to draw out by force." [snip]
brought back both the customer and his friends, family, etc. Funny thing is that people who use expressions like "...hope to extract money..." pejoratively seem to focus strictly on the movement of the money and not on the goods or services that the customer gets in return.
As I said, business transactions *should* be friendly acts.
