Following advice on a recent similar problem, I tried to get the recently announced tcpdump-3.8.2-14 with: yum update tcpdump\* It found no packages matching tcpdump* . rpm -q tcpdump returns tcpdump-3.8.2-13, suggesting that I could use the update.
