Hi; When I first started In Linux 2 years ago, I didn't know what a 'KDE' or a 'GNOME' was. The idea of having a choice between desktops was counter-intuitive bordering on the sacrilegious. MeG used the Gnome desktop, while MeK used the KDE, obviously. For a month or two I flipped back and forth between users, depending on the job I was doing, while I got my feet wet with Linux in general and desktops in particular. I ended up choosing Gnome, based on working style and comfort level. You may choose otherwise, but having a knowledge, a touch and feel, of both desktops has stood me in good stead ever since.
