I may end up doing just that. I was hoping that there would be some way to instruct the system to reinstall everything listed in the database, but in the end that would probably be overkill. THat list you suggest will at least point me toward what will need to be (re)configured, anyway. If I understand correctly, if you just move or convert that rpm database, you will have a database that says packages are installed when they aren't. I would personally take the time to install the packages manually as your needs may have changed.
