Hi Juan, I don't have a solution for your problem specifically, but I suggest that you use the 'screen' program when performing an unattended yum -y update. Screen allows you to detach a terminal (or remote ssh login session) and then re-attach it at a later point. Think of it as the textual equivalent of vnc and its brethren, though screen has been around for much longer. Screen has tons of info in the manpage, but the basic usage is as follows: 1) run screen 2) yum -y update 3) type: CTRL-A, CTRL-D to detach 4) walk away from the computer and enjoy a nice espresso. I like soy milk in mine. 5) come back later (or login remotely via ssh) and type: screen -r 6) CTRL-D to exit screen at this point, you'll see your yum program either waiting for user input or hopefully completely finished.
