Nah, forget the utilities, read up the docs at alsa-project.org and
configure it manually.
At most, use the automatically generated settings with the computer
using one card as a model for the two cards situation. Just be careful
with the aliases and it will work. It did in my case.

Trust me, it will seem trivial after you do it once correctly.
