Can you provide the output of
ls -l /usr/sbin/sendmail* /etc/alternatives/mta

Are you using mutt interactively, or just using it from the command
line?

I assume that mail is working properly...

If you go into mutt, and type
:set ?sendmail
what does it say?

in fact on this machine simple mail command is also not working
like if i issue the command
----------------------------------------------
mail -s "test" me@xxxxxxxxxxx
hi this is a test mail
.
----------------------------------------------
even then this system isnt sending mail

now wot the problem can be in system A
