I think the numbers need to change on the amount of memory required to install Fedora Core 4.

Doing an "install everything" in graphical mode on a 256meg machine fails with out of memory errors. (It seems to ignore the swap space at that point, thinking it has enough memory.)

Text install of "everything" works fine on the same machine.

I have experience similar problem.

I had tried to install FC4 on my old, but healthy, PIII 800MHz machine
with 128MB RAM but failed. (It failed and reboot WITHOUT any messages.)

I had tried some combination of packages(groups and detail selection),
and text/graphic mode, another installation languages. (I use Korean,
so... please excuse my poor English :-) But it fails on most case.

The problem that I found is small RAM (without swap). So I tried again
with swap partition and success.

IMHO, at least, some alert message is needed for small RAM or not enough
RAM. the best is always installation on small ram system will be done
successfully.
