I think some do themselves harm by the way they post. Three common things spring immediately to mind. There's the obvious things about not starting a new thread for a new topic, just replying to someone else's completely different thread. Such lost messages get ignored/deleted by anybody ignoring the original thread. I do this a lot (ignore/delete threads I'm not following). And huge long posts, with little or no snippage (whether replies are top or bottom posted, or interspersed). I hit delete on messages that are just masses of verbage, where we're supposed to find the salient parts buried somewhere extremely inconvenient. I'm sure lots of others do, too. Hideously mangled messages that are difficult to read. -- Don't send private replies to my address, the mailbox is ignored. I read messages from the public lists.
