If you really think it won't just do an rm -rf / as root and see if
tens of thousands of files just won't vanish before your very eyes.

I posted an e-mail showing where I created more than 10000 files in
one directory, and another directory below that with one file in it,
and

$ rm -f /path/to/directory

got it all on an FC2 machine.

So, I think this particular argument should be laid to rest.
