Hello, your hda4 isn't a partition you can format with an fs. A harddrive could have only 4 primary partitions. So if you need more you must use an extended one like your hda4 in this partition you can build many more I think something like 63 (I'm not sure) like your hda5. You at the moment could create new partitions form block 8102 to 9472 into hda4 to get more space in a new partition. The other way is to grow up your hda5, but (please forgive me) it isn't nothing for your skill. And again!!! Don't forget backup before changing any disk-layout !!!!!
