After searching through the bugzilla at red hat i found this: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=165164 (no sound (emu10k1) after kernel update) I realize that this isn't your sound system, but I found my solution in one of the comments on this bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=169152#c31 I turned on the switch described there and I can now record my voice.
