It doesn't always report itself as wireless adapter.
IE (on my system):

[root@laptop ~]# lspci 
*snip*
02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212
802.11abg NIC (rev 01)
[root@laptop ~]# 

You might want to grep for "802" in your lspci output.
FYI - if it happens to be an Atheros card, you are in luck - the madwifi
drivers available from rpm.livna.org are *very* good.
