Bonjour,

I have just installed FC4 on a machine and firefox is not working!

Here is what I have done: install from CD the "official distro", the run
yum update.

when I "click" the icon for web browsing: nothing happens!

launching firefox from terminal does nothing!

strace firefox in a terminal gives a lot of "no such file or directory"
warnings; for instance:

open("/usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4/tls/i686/sse2/libexpat.so.0", O_RDONLY) =
- -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
open("/usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4/tls/i686/libexpat.so.0", O_RDONLY) = -1
ENOENT (No such file or directory)
open("/usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4/tls/sse2/libexpat.so.0", O_RDONLY) = -1
ENOENT (No such file or directory)
open("/usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4/tls/libexpat.so.0", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT
(No such file or directory)
open("/usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4/i686/sse2/libexpat.so.0", O_RDONLY) = -1
ENOENT (No such file or directory)
open("/usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4/i686/libexpat.so.0", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT
(No such file or directory)
open("/usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4/sse2/libexpat.so.0", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT
(No such file or directory)
open("/usr/lib/firefox-1.0.4/libexpat.so.0", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No
such file or directory)

Seems that some libraries are missing! But why the depandencies were not
given by yum? (if my example refers to version 1.0.4, it is because I
came back to this version after updating, using yum, to se if the
problem did not come from 1.0.7 version).

/etc/ld.so.conf contains only: include ld.so.conf.d/*.conf

and directory ld.so.conf.d/ contains only:
qt-i386.conf
xorg-x11-i386.conf

It appears srange to me!

What can I do?

Thank you for any help.

PS. I have done the "same" install on another machine and everything run
smoothly.... Strange!
