Michael,

This may not be the easiest way.

If you can distinguish something unique about each NIC, (e.g. driver,
I/O address, IRQ number) then you can manipulate the names by specifying
the unique attribute(s) using the "options" or "alias" statement
in /etc/modprobe.conf.
