Does the text "daily" occur anywhere in /var/log/cron?
I have:
Nov 21 04:02:01 mk crond[32618]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.daily)
Nov 21 04:02:01 mk anacron[32622]: Updated timestamp for job
`cron.daily' to 2005-11-21
I.e. cron.daily is run at 4 AM every morning.
Is you machine on at 4 AM? If not, is anacron
set to run the daily script after login? Check
/etc/anacron:
1 65 cron.daily run-parts /etc/cron.daily
