Did you use the right version? I think that the version of the ipw2200
driver that ships with the Fedora kernel is 1.0.0, while the latest driver
from Sourceforge is 1.0.8. They also require different versions of the
firmware.

It might be useful to see your dmesg output for the driver. Run

dmesg | tail -20

right after you modprobe the driver.
