I did some more hunting around. First of all, the trouble with DB Designer is that it depends on older versions of QT. Simply downloading the binary and running it is not an option. tediasql [http://tedia2sql.tigris.org/] looks like a good two-step tool. druid [http://druid.sourceforge.net/[ has had some rescent updates, so I've downloaded it. DB Visualizer [http://www.minq.se/] free version may be good enough for the quick and dirty stuff I do, so I downloaded that Azzurri Clay core [http://www.azzurri.jp/en/software/clay/index.jsp] is a plug-in for Eclipse. In general I don't like Eclipse (fragile depenencies), but I may live with it for this plug-in Thanks for the pointers. I guess the next thing to do is try the products and write a brief review. /mde/
