Make sure you have the following lines in your vncservers VNCSERVERS="1:root" VNCSERVERARGS[1]="-geometry 1024x768" Then, run vncpasswd as root, it'll ask you for a password.
Except don't use root. Use your regular login. There's no need to run as root here.
