The box is > > FC4+yum update. > > > > Cheers > > Gary > > What card are you using - you do not mention it. > > david Hi David, I'm not sure what motherboard or on-board card it is, but the modprobe.conf shows (amongst other things): alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0 options snd-card-0 index=0 As I say, play and amixer both work fine, but I don't get any sound out of KDE apps. If I run kmix it shows Intel 82801DB-ICH4. If I change the settings using amixer the changes are reflected in kmix, so something's working.
