I suppose your advice is to go on those miscellaneous options ....
but yes, I did that already. rpm --initdb, and then rpm --rebuilddb
The problem I have is now, my system doesn't want to upgrade anymore. and 
when I check the packages installed on my system, it keeps saying that 
package xxxx is not installed, even if it is present. 
It seems the newly created database doesn't include the whole packages 
installed, but just some of them.
