File permission in dual boot

Hi all,
I've just made a dual boot between my FC4 and Suse10. I mount Suse10's
filesystem.

What I want to do is to be able to edit and save files in Suse10's filesystem.
Right now, when I check the ownership, it's registered to 500.500. Who's
this? If I do chown -R fajar.fajar /suse10, will it break Suse?
Thanks.
