yumex also allows you to read the descriptions, but is not searchable
(afaik)

"yum info available > yum.info.available" will give you a file, that currently is 1175599 bytes, these repos:
[root 0 yum.repos.d]# grep -H enabled=1 *
fedora-extras.repo:enabled=1
fedora.repo:enabled=1
fedora-updates.repo:enabled=1
flash.repo:enabled=1
livna.repo:enabled=1

Then with "grep -A 10 [packet name/regex] yum.info.available you'll get your info :-)
