I used to have a Scientific Atlanta cable modem (don't remember 
the exact model), it worked perfectly with my Linux system. 
Cable modems with Ethernet connections don't need any special 
support or configuration in Linux, what you need to do is 
configure your Ethernet card and your Internet connection will 
work. Use the "system-config-network" command.
