I don't think this is a bug as I've done it numerous times. However,
there is a possibility that you're selecting a particular application
which depends on X, and the installer, upon checking dependencies, will
then install it for you, despite you not picking it.
Personally I think it would be nice if the installer had a 'noX'
option for those of us who don't need X on their machines.
