I just got two new servers with fedora core 3 installed, so after
setting up the networking, the first thing I did was a yum update. It
found many things, of course, including a kernel update:
kernel.x86_64 2.6.10-1.770_FC3 installed
kernel-doc.noarch 2.6.10-1.770_FC3 installed
kernel-smp.x86_64 2.6.10-1.770_FC3 installed
kernel-utils.x86_64 1:2.4-13.1.49_FC3 installed
kernel.x86_64 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3 updates-released
kernel-debuginfo.x86_64 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3 updates-released
kernel-devel.x86_64 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3 updates-released
kernel-doc.noarch 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3 updates-released
kernel-smp.x86_64 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3 updates-released
kernel-smp-devel.x86_64 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3 updates-released
kernel-utils-debuginfo.x86_64 1:2.4-13.1.49_FC3 updates-released
I did all these (& the rest of the update), then I rebooted (to be using
the new kernel) and they didn't come back up. At the point where they
should be booting linux, there is just a blinking cursor on the screen.
Is there a known problem with this kernel?
