You can go with either the JPackage route or use Sun's product(s). After you have extracted and installed the rpm put the symbolic link to libjavaplugin_oji.so in the /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins directory. Placing it there will cover both the Firefox and Mozilla browsers and does not require upkeep whenever your browser is upgraded.
