Have you tried out using the same symbolic link statement from the
firefox / mozilla plugins directory ... like issue the following
statement
ln -s <jdk or jre directory>/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
from the firefox/mozilla plugins directory
