Well, I amended my /etc/yum.conf file to only read the following: [main] cachedir=/var/cache/yum debuglevel=2 logfile=/var/log/yum.log pkgpolicy=newest distroverpkg=fedora-release tolerant=1 exactarch=0 I will give things a try this way.
