I have encountered a little issue using FC2 which I find
somewhat puzzling. I realize that FC2 is out of support, but
since this is a production computer am reluctant to upgrade
at the moment. Anyone willing to offer any insight, THANKS!

I have a USB drive which, when FC2 boots, may be recognized
either as sde1 or sda1. I never know which I'm going to get.
I have two entries in my /etc/fstab for mounts, like this

/dev/sda1 /mnt/usb auto noauto,user,exec 0 0
/dev/sde1 /mnt/usb auto noauto,user,exec 0 0

(lines shortened for this message, otherwise exactly as
in file).

Usually, I can just "mount /mnt/usb" and it gets it. Occasionally,
I have to "mount /dev/sde1", and then it gets it.

In any case, for command-line purposes (which I almost
exclusively use, except when downloading in a browser
which then I use a GUI) it shows up as /mnt/usb, just
fine. However, when I use a GUI (and on the desktop),
it shows as "usb (2)".

So I have three questions:

1. Why does it sometimes show as /dev/sde1?
2. Why does it always mount as "usb (2)"?
3. Should/could I do something about this?

Mike,
Just a shot in the dark here, you *do* umount the stick before removing it, right? Just a thought!
