correct
Can this be handshaking?
no idea...
Wiring of the TX line from the PC?
how does this effect the serial port/rollover cable connection.?
Can the switch see any output from any program?
wouldn't know, can't access it to set any parameters etc...
echo "hello" >/dev/ttyS0
will try that...ok, nothing for that command
for example? Commi works well here, although I have to init my USB <-> serial port adapter via minicom first. Whether that's a problem with the adapter or Commi I don't know.
no adapter here...also, I know for sure the switch is fine, as I could access it via serial com from work today, b4 bringing it home...weird, indeed...cheers.
