Hello, I have just installed FC4 on my Acer TravelMate 4100, a laptop with a AC'97 audio chip. I'm having troubles getting sound to work. I have confirmed the hardware is okay. $ system-config-soundcard amixer: Unable to find simple control 'PCM-2',0 amixer: Unable to find simple control 'DRC Range',0 I noticed posts on this subject on this list at June 15, June 16 and June 19. [1] suggested to enable the external amplifier, but this did not make any difference. system-config-soundcard gives me: Vendor: Intel Model: Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC'97 Audio Controller Module: snd-intel8x0 I tried to mute or unmute the external amplifier with alsamixer or kmix. I also tried to turn off everything, or everything except a few, or some other combination. No combination for the mixer seem to help. Below is the full information for my system. I read somewhere that a conflict between different modules can also be a source for this, but I have not been able to resolve that.
