I think that you are right- now that I am very cafeful not to move the switch over to an empty position (and VERY careful not to let the mouse move while I switch), I have not yet had any problems. I have not yet added the kernel parameters. Now if I could just get my rat to behave as well as the mouse (yes, we have a pet rat)...
