I feel that is something nasty with nautilus or gnome-vfs(2)-smb. Many
people share that experience. I face that too on my workstation where no
iptables rules are active (my BSD router runs PF).

As far as I know it is sufficient to open port 137 and 138 UDP only and
ports 139 and 445 TCP only.
