capitalization. Where does this message come from and what does it mean?
System is AMD64 socket 939 based on a DFI LANParty UT motherboard.

Answering my own question, this appears to be an issue with DFI's use of the Marvell Yukon/SysKonnect SK-98xx Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. I moved the cable to the second NIC (different chipset) and the messages stopped.

Here's someone else with the problem and a patch to the driver that disables the VPD checksum check:
