If you can live with some missing configuration screens, then just copy your
home directory to a backup, install FC4 from scratch and then copy your home
back.

You will have some fun if you want to get your system multimedia ready. I am
particullary fond of amaroK, and to get that compiled I needed a complete
day. First of all GCC4 is blacklisted by kde so I needed to get my hand on a
GCC3 (which is easier said then done (try openpkg)), then you'll have some
heavy fun downloading and compiling dependency after dependency after
dependency. But in the end it's worthwile to have a station that can handle
any multimedia file you throw at it (except for encoded).

If you do go that way, and have more then one station available, I suggest you
checkout distcc. It enables you to do make -j 10 and have the other stations
in your network do part of the compile work. So that your system is less
loaded and the compile faster done.

With kind regards

Andy
