Based on all your info and yum.conf picked from the web, I was able to fix yum and up2date.
FC4 is now running great, with the exception of the scroll of my wheel mouse. As indicated in a separate post.

This looks more like an up2date error than a yum error. Are you sure you
are running yum?
To fix up2date, check your /etc/sysconfig/rhn/ directory for a
sources.rpmnew file. Move the old sources file out of the way and replace
it with the new one:
mv sources sources.old
mv sources.rpmnew sources
