Is it normal that under a vFat filesystem that we can not assign write property for groups and users on files and directories? Everytime I try to do this, it won't let me.
The filsystem is under a RAID1 drives and samba is also hooked up on it.
With this problem, Samba users can't write on it.
VFAT filesystems have no concept of users and groups. You specify a user and group for the whole filesystem at mount time and all files in that filesystem will be owned by that user and group.
What are you actually trying to achieve?
Paul.
