I don't think you understand.  In his example, the resulting file name
should still contain "doc".  He didn't give an example of an input file
name, so, technically, I don't understand either.  I don't know if the
files are all named "doc.txt" now, or have distinct names such as "alice",
"betty", and "cathy", or what.
