Does this mean, that I have to print to a file in postscript, pipe it to the ps2pdf command and pipe it again to a printer, fax with an enclosed option for that device or to a mailserver as p.e. pdf?
The program ps2pdf is included with the ghostscript package and is almost certainly already installed on your system. It will convert a postscript file to a PDF, which is exactly what you were originally asking about. See "man ps2pdf".
